Each year the Archdiocese of Hartford bestows its
highest honor on parishioners who have demonstrated
exemplary service over many years to their parish
church. Founded by Archbishop Daniel A. Cronin in
2003, the year of his retirement, the St. Joseph’s Medal
has become a revered way of honoring parishioners. It is
a well-loved honor by the people as well as the priests.
The Archdiocese of Hartford has a rich history. Founded
in 1843 by Pope Gregory XVI (1831-1846) on March
19th, St. Joseph Day, the Archdiocese will celebrate 181
years of existence this year on March 19th.
Therefore, I am pleased to announce the 2024 recipients
of the St. Joseph Medal:
Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Mary Ann Smith
The ceremony of the bestowal of the Medal will take
place on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at 3:00pm at the Cathedral
of St. Joseph, Hartford, CT. It is very important
to note that this is a ceremony and prayer service. It is
not the celebration of Mass. There is NO MASS on that
day at 3:00pm!!
Anyone and everyone are invited to attend this lovely
prayer service of the highest honor of the Archdiocese of
Hartford. I encourage all of you to support Ed and Mary
Ann by being present on that day.
