Special Collection for the Diocese of Sunyani, Ghana

As stated last week, every parish is assigned a special missionary during the summer months to speak about the needs of a given diocese or area staffed by religious priest/sisters or diocesan priests. Since our summer missionary priest could not be with us this year, I am making an appeal to all of you and your generosity on behalf of the Diocese of Sunyani, Ghana.

The Diocese of Sunyani was established in 1973.
Most of the Diocese is in poor rural areas. Most of
the people are poor farmers who struggle while
living a peasant life. They lag behind the rest of
Ghana in education, healthcare and basic infrastructure.
It is made up of mostly young families which are
mostly first and second generation Christians.
The people are generally very accepting of the
Catholic faith.

The holistic development of the human person is
the great interest of the Sunyani Diocese. They try
to provide socio-economic development projects in
primary evangelization, safe drinking water, quality
healthcare delivery and education, where your
generosity will help.

They will use the donations on the following projects:

  1. Drilling for water.
  2. Establish schools at the grammar and secondary levels.
  3. Train local catechists for evangelization.
  4. Build new churches, rectories and convents.
  5. Organize vocation rallies to support priesthood and religious life.
  6. Support seminary education.
  7. Organize awareness sessions to prevent diseases such as breast cancer, typhoid fever, HIV Aids and the corona virus.

Your generosity will enable the Diocese of Sunyani to better serve the people of God in the local Church. Please be generous to the mission of Sunyani, Ghana. May God’s blessings be yours.
