St . Joseph Cathedral
October 14, 2024
On Monday, October 14, 2024, our new Archbishop, Christopher Coyne will receive and be invested with the Pallium from Archbishop Christophe Pierre the Apostolic Nuncio to the United States. The Nuncio is the Pope’s Vatican Representative to our country.
Archbishop Coyne already received the Pallium from Pope Francis in Rome on June 29, 2024, the Feast Day of Saints Peter and Paul. He will now be invested with it in our Cathedral so that all of us may attend.
There is a sign up sheet at both parishes for those interested in attending the Mass and reception on this important day for us and Archbishop Coyne. At no charge to you a bus will be provided to take us there and bring us back. More details to follow. Please sign your name and phone number on the sheet. We ask you to PRINT your first and last name.
As mentioned before, the Pallium is placed around the neck and shoulders of an archbishop. Most archbishops are Metropolitans, meaning that they have jurisdiction over several dioceses. Our Archbishop is the Metropolitan of Hartford, Bridgeport, Norwich and Providence. Presently, as Metropolitan, Archbishop Coyne is the administrator of the Diocese of Norwich, until the get a new bishop.
The office will be closed on October 14, 2024. I am humbly expecting a generous turn-out of parishioners on that day of great celebration in honor of our Archbishop.
